The No Child Left Behind Alone law “Signed last January, pumps billions into education but also gives military recruiters access to the names, addresses and phone numbers of students in 22,000 schools. The law also says that schools must give the military the same access to their campuses that businesses and college recruiters enjoy. School systems that fail to comply could lose federal money.” — AP via Wired. The Pentagon says 95 percent of schools are in compliance.

Schools are supposed to provide opt-out forms for parents to sign and return to remove their child's name from the lists provided to the Pentagon. And let your legislators know that you prefer that military recruiters do their work in the adult population — who might have a better idea of what it means to fight and die outside of a hot recruitment computer game.
